Our story started in 2016 when Ben and I were both consulting with the same mid-stage, private equity-backed B2B SaaS company. Despite having innovative technology, strong product-market fit, and an attractive total addressable market (TAM), the organization was struggling to reach its true potential.

To get up to speed on the business and Before delving into tactics, Ben and I partnered with stakeholders across the company to understand . With this as a true North, it became much easier to define specific goals, strategy, and tactics. Two years later, the company was growing at 50% year over year, driven largely by a successful brand refresh and revamped inbound marketing strategy, but also by simple focus, alignment, and discipline. It left Ben and I to wonder – how many other PE-backed companies could use this simple approach to achieve unprecedented growth?

We reached out to executives at various companies, across sizes, stages, and industries. While we were not surprised to hear that almost all of these executives spent a lot of time thinking about growth, we were shocked by how many admitted to not having a clear growth vision and a holistic marketing strategy that is directly tied to overall business goals.
